Household chores

Saturday is probably the busiest day. haha.. Laundry at 9am.. in fact, there was a fire alarm at 9am! fire alarm!!!! goodness.. as u can imagine... everyone was cursing and swearing at the person who set it off.anyway, laundry at 9am... lunch dates with friends.. and den, ironing... washing, cleaning, scrubbing and all... i am starting to miss my maid here.. haha.. bt on the other hand, i feel a sense of achievement and satisfaction that my "house" is in order. I have always subscribe to the belief that only when your house is in order that you can achieve success in your endeavours. Well, obviously that is not always the case. some pple who are successful can come from dysfunctional families. In my case, i prefer my house to be in order. Its a tall order for a 21 yr old fresher. haha! It's abnormal.

In any case, today was an awkward day. The KCL malaysian and Singapore society organised a walk a bout from waterloo to strand to the library at chancery lane. It was to say the least, a waste of time. The reason was that most of us probably had already been to the main school compounds and there was no need for an introduction. It should have been done before the term. Moreover, it was wierd that we signed in at the security post at waterloo campus and jus stood in a circle whilst the senior introduce the building. Firstly, we were obstructing others. Secondly, we know the building rather well now. But I mus quantify that it was a good gesture but terrible organisation. There is room for improvements, mate...

Recently, I read about a joint deg programme between Kings and Columbia university (USA). 2 yrs in king's 2 yrs in columbia. Total 4 yrs. I am interested to do it. It is going to be quite an experience. I am motivated to study real hard so that I can apply for it 2nd yr. haha.. If not, I might include in my list of options to do my postgrad law at one of the US unis. I shall see.

I got some really good deals today at the book sale. Got a £1.50 constitutional and administrative law book by AW bradley and KD ewing (13th ed) one edition behind.. bt with really good notes byit's previous master. I am planning to use it for reference. And, I got my Jill pooles at £5. good stuff. The rest costs about £6-10 each.. Second hand books.. Not bad I would say. am planning to get the rest soon from the book store soon.

Peanut butter toast..yumm...

2nd wk

It was a mixed week. Firstly, it was terrible how inefficient the banks in England can get. Barclays have yet to issue me my debit card which would probably take up to 3 weeks!! it's crazy. I need my debit card to order books online at amazon. I guess I will have to ask darryl (my neighbor and good friend) to help me in this. School work have been piling up. Alot of readings to do.Fortunately, my stint in Ravindran Associates have served me well in the area of legal research. haha. Thanks Vicky.. haha.. I am familiar with westlaw and finding cases using citations. I was able to find the cases i need online instead of running all the way to the library. Thank goodness! haha. Aside from studies, I have embarked on several clubs and societies. The first one I went to was the KCL christian Union..Wonderful bunch of people.. For some reason, whenever i am with them, they are feasting. Which of coz, I am invited to join in. haha.. Makes me feel bad actually. Shall bring along some pizzas next time. Yst I went over to Tim, loui (KCLCU president) and stephen's place.. It is at King's cross and we had a time of prayer and some food (of coz). I must say that Jame and Tim are really good cooks. Simple meals but extremely delicious. Had pepperoni pizzas, hawaiian pizzas, steams corn with butter, steamed brocolli as well as Tim's mother home-made apple pie with custard.. yum! delicious.. probably the best meal I had in london so far aside from the peking duck at chinatown. haha! Met hannah there.. nice english lady.. woman of God. Studying speech therapy at UCL. Always bullied by Loui though. haha! Fun bunch of pple. absolutely love hanging around them. hee..

Wednesday I was at this social tennis thingy at hyde park. It rained abit that day. But.. the tennis was good. I actually felt myself improving. aha! Hopefully.. need to work on my backhand though. I tink i wanna hit some balls every wednesday as a form of exercise. Met a couple of europeans here.. fun to play with.. there was Anne (holland), francesca(Italy, Pisa), liz (holland).. shall be meeting for lunch on wednesday before the session. Hopefully, we get some serious coaching. haha! Today,  friday, free day for us. Am intending to play some table tennis. muahah... hannah dev is joinging too... hee.. it is going to be fun. I am seriously contemplating what Societies to join. Wanna learn some spanish and german (if possible)..I might join the Bar society though. haha..We'll see.. It's so exciting! too many tings to do.. too many pple to meet! hahaa...Looking forward to meeting James this sat.. he said he will do a tour of london for me.. haha.. nice fella..Ok, shall go soon.. need to read..

Peanut butter toast..yumm...

King's College London

Hey guys,

This is my first blog I have ever created in my entire life! Basically, I am doing this up to keep a record of whatever goes on in London for at least the next 3 years here. So, do visit this blog time to time if you happen to be interested (I would not be so presumptious to say that you are) in what is happening over here. =>

The first wk here was rather busy. I had to set up a bank account as well as my mobile number, which requires some effort considering that the banks here are not very service oriented. I did mine at barclay's in the end. Got a mobile number at carphone warehouse: 07790502220. Met alot of Singaporeans here. haha. Nice people generally.  I realised that the roads in London are peppered with traffic lights! There is a traffic light for every 50m or so. I would never want to be a driver here. Surprising the weather is great for this time of the year! It has been very sunny all day. Perfect for picnics! Which we duly obliged. Attended this KCL Chritian Union gathering. Fabulous bunch of people. Love them to bits. Friendly, warm and accomodating. Enjoyed the picnic at St. James park on 20,and today after service. Will upload a couple of photographs for you. The Brits are really good at parks. They have very nice victorian architecture with wild fowls running arnd to make it natural. Perfect picnic set up. People just lie on the grass for an afternoon nap or a good read.

Starting school tomorrow. Heard it's introductory week. I certainly hope so.. Because I am not the least prepared. See what army does to your brain! haha.. I will cope. Dun worry. Taking contract law, public law, european Law and criminal Law. haha.. compulsory. Am tinking of doing the KCL associateship thingy. Heard that I will learn more about religions and Christianity in general. Part of my religious education here in Anglican founded KCL.

Alrighty then, keep in touch.. Will update you on my upcoming days soon. hee
